Presentors

Dr. Kathleen Lane, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. She earned her medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Minnesota. She is a graduate of the U of M’s Resident Leadership Academy and the Clinician Educator Pathway. Dr. Lane is passionate about medical education, assessment, curriculum development, and clinical reasoning. She is the course director for the Acting Internship in Internal Medicine, an Assessment and Coaching Expert, and Education Lead for the Hospitalist Section. She is involved in research projects centering on clinical reasoning, diagnostic error, and feedback.

Rachel Poeppelman, MD is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota. Rachel joined the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in 2020. She earned her medical degree at the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago. Dr. Poeppelman has a masters degree in health professions education and her research interests center on questions about learning and professional development in the workplace, particularly entrustment, supervision, and professional identity formation.

- Identify common challenges for learners who are struggling.
- Apply principles of high-quality feedback to learner scenarios.
