M. Philip Luber, MD, of the University of Minnesota — Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Medical education has been a key focus throughout Dr. Luber’s career. He has held educational and clinical leadership roles at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, the University of Maryland in Baltimore, and the University of Texas (UT) in San Antonio.

Jill Amsberry, DO, is the recently appointed Regional Campus Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Medical Education at the University of Minnesota Medical School CentraCare Regional Campus St. Cloud. She is a practicing pediatrician and concurrently serves as faculty at the University of Minnesota Family Medicine Residency in St. Cloud.

Katherine (Betsy) Murray, MD, MPH, is a Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrician, working with patients and families in the Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Program at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB).
Dr. Murray joined the University of Minnesota faculty in 2006 after completing her pediatric residency, pediatric chief residency, Masters in Public Health, and developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowship at the University of Minnesota.

Jessimina Blum, PhD, is the Director of Instructional Design at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She is a member of the Clinical Education Committee (CEC), a working group to review curriculum integration and evaluation for clinical clerkships that is tasked with making recommendations regarding curricular issues to the Medical School Education Committee.

Objectives

 At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to meet the objectives of: 

  • Understanding Adult Learning Theories.
  • Applying Adult Learning Principles in Clinical Education.
  • Strategies for Engaging Adult Learners.
