Finding Peace Through Generosity

Finding peace and joy in our lives is so important, but not always easy. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted all of us and that stress can be compounded by a 24-hour news cycle that can lead to feelings of despair. However, there are many paths to finding peace and happiness within each of us.

Generosity — acts of sacrificial kindness big and small — can be a tremendous source of joy. Generosity can be listening to someone who has a lot on their mind. It can be finding ways to help in your community. Generosity can be wearing a mask to protect others or sharing food with those who are hungry. And generosity can be as simple as a smile. Giving is a powerful way to impact others and yourself. Pope Francis recently shared these important words about the power of helping others, which is a great reminder for all of us:

Rivers do not drink their own water;

trees do not eat their own fruit;

the sun does not shine on itself and

flowers do not spread their fragrance for themselves.

Living for others is a rule of nature.

We are all born to help each other.

No matter how difficult it is…

Life is good when you are happy;

but much better when others are happy

because of you.
