Music Therapy: Irene’s Story

We all know that feeling when we hear a favorite song. It can take us back to a specific time and place. It can jog a memory. And it can provide healing. That’s why Music Therapy is an important part of CentraCare’s Hospice program and supported through funding by the CentraCare Foundation.

“The music is a gift for the patients and their families, but it’s also a gift for us to be there and experience those moments.”

“Being on this journey with our patients and their families is a very intimate process and I feel extremely honored to be there with them,” said Erin Ebnet, CentraCare Music Therapist. “The music is a gift for the patients and their families, but it’s also a gift for us to be there and experience those moments.”

One of those special moments was with Irene, a 100-year-old Hospice patient who Ebnet described as polite, complimentary and a very dignified lady. Watch Irene’s story, as shared by her daughter, Ruth Lemm, and hear why music therapy was so important to her:

Music Therapy was one of the beneficiaries from 2020 Holly Ball, CentraCare’s annual fundraising event that showcased the generosity of people living in our community. Proceeds from this event will help ensure Music Therapy continues to bring comfort and peace to those who need it most.
