Objectives

Alix Stalmakov, DNP, will present Adolescent Substance Use:  Assessment and Referral to Treatment. At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify how brain development increases risk of procuring a later substance use disorder. 
  2. Differentiate medicinal versus harmful impacts of cannabis use. 
  3. Describe ways in which substance use uniquely impacts the adolescent brain. 
  4. Apply a brief screening tool to assess for high-risk adolescent substance use. 
  5. List available treatment options for substance use.
