Presentor
Ana Nuñez, MD, FACP, is a Professor of General Internal Medicien and Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Minnesota Medical School. She is nationally recognized as a medical education and health services researcher, having developed novel curricula in the areas of sex and gender medicine, primary care, trauma/violence prevention and cultural competence.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to meet the objectives of:
- Identify at least three strategies to promote inclusivity in the clinical learning environment.
- Reflect on their current clinical teaching practices and identify one specific action to address unconscious bias in their mentoring.
- Describe how unconscious bias and inclusivity impact student learning outcomes and patient care, using one example from their own clinical experience.
- Commit to one actionable change they can make in their clinical teaching practices to foster inclusive excellence and create a more supportive learning environment.
